On April 27th, 2025, I ran my first official marathon alongside two friends – an unforgettable experience that I hope will be the first of many. For the race, I designed custom shirts to represent our hometown soccer club. I created a unique SVO logotype and built the design around it. My goal was to craft a shirt that not only reflects the heritage and colors of our club but also carries a timeless yet modern aesthetic. Brands like UVU and ON were major sources of inspiration when mood boarding for this design.
I wanted to keep the front of the shirts quit simple because the race number covered most of the shirt anyways. Therefore I placed the SVO logotype as a small chest print and reserved the backside for the main design.
It features the race track of the Hamburg marathon to connect the design to the event. I colored the outline green to represent our clubs colors. The logotype itself drew inspiration from the ON logo, which I really love for its timeless perfectly rounded shapes. My aim was to create something similar to that but still give it my own spin. I'm really happy with how it turned out. The connecting letters create a sense of movement without being too playful. The design is finished of by a simplistic two-liner of our clubs name SV Ostedt and the date of the race.
Overall, it was really fun creating my own real project from start of finish and seeing the result in real life. Down below you can see some pictures showcasing the process behind the design as well as some impressions from the race itself.
